Yesterday (day 3) went by rather quickly. I worked on the faculty resource guide for most of the day. Wow, guess I could explain what I'm doing with my project--well for starters, LLCC has never had a VISTA and so far it seems as though very few faculty members care about who I am or about service-learning; hehe silly them, that will change soon enough. For the fall semester alone, LLCC would like me to develop a faculty guide to service-learning, a service-learning data form, listing of faculty members currently using SL, create a listing of community organizations we could send students to volunteer at, create an evaluation process and documents for SL, attend community volunteer center advisory board meetings, plan/implement co-curricular programs (such as homelessness awareness week and MLK day of service). From one angle it seems like a lot, from another it doesn't seem like enough. I'm definitely getting into the groove of things, though, and at least I have my own office (for now- I'll be moved into a shared one once my computer gets in. Side note- I must have been spoiled at my private college because I've noticed things here take a LOT longer to get done than at IC).
Today I have a meeting with the woman who will be over-seeing me while my supervisor is on maternity leave. I really truly can't wait to get paid not only because A) if my dad doesn't give me money, I won't be able to get to work and B) I want to buy a planner SO bad. Google Calendar works well or whatev, but I need something more concrete and something I can access even when I'm not at work. *sigh* only 15 days till pay-day. Thank goodness!!
Hmm well I may blog more later but for now it's time to get back to work!

- Today’s world feels so sped up, like someone flipped the fast-forward button on our lives, and I’m on the hunt to slow it down. Like many people, I lived for the weekends. With only 90 minutes between getting home from work and bedtime, I constantly thought “There’s no way I can do this today, I’ll do it this weekend!” Then the weekend would come and I’d be too swamped with laundry, dishes, grocery shopping, etc. that I couldn’t actually enjoy spending time with my family like I wanted to. Meanwhile I’m working 40+ hours every week with a 45 minute commute each way and I’m still barely making ends meet. Something had to change. I shifted my focus to living in the now and now work as a coach for others who find themselves caught like I was, trapped in the cycle of too little time and even less money. There are so many ways to make money, save money, and have the time you so desperately want to spend with your loved ones. And I can help you find it.
